Costa Rican Food: Things to know
Rice and beans are a staple of Costa Rican food and an amazing part of traditional meals, known as Casados. Although there are different theories on the name, casado means married man, and it is commonly agreed upon that rice and beans are a perfect marriage and accompaniment to fruits, vegetables, meats, and seafood.
Beef, pork, and chicken are eaten throughout the country and the seafood is excellent. Being on the coast, you can find delicious fish, octopus, and other fantastic seafood.
Never pass up a fried or sweet plantain. They are amazing.
